About Sheer Naturals

While working as a waitress five years ago, Sheer Naturals owner Carrie Strimel, learned about mineral makeup through a TV infomercial. Extremely excited to try a makeup that was natural here is her experience.

“Due to my sensitive skin most liquid makeup would cause breakouts or excessive oil. After receiving my kit and trying the product for a few days I noticed an uncomfortable itching feeling. I wondered if this was the new makeup so I applied it one more time to find out, On this particular day, I was working a Friday night shift on a holiday. I was so busy that night that I barely had time to think, the only problem was that I felt the itching and knew I had to stop wearing the makeup. I then went back to my old liquid makeup when later that year I ran across an other brand promising that their natural mineral makeup would give an airbrushed look. Of course I had to try it! What happened – my entire face turned red! Hardly an airbrushed look. That’s when the research started. I had to figure out what was causing this and why is it in mineral makeup.”

minerals

Several years later Sheer Naturals had the answer and the solution. Sheer Naturals found that certain brands use talc as a filler which can be extremely irritating to many skin types. Talc has been known to cause redness and breakouts. Another culprit is a nasty ingredient called Bismuth Oxychloride (can be listed as bismuth on labels). This ingredients is used to provide a pearlesque (a.k.a. shiny) look to the skin. Bismuth is a by product of mineral refining making this ingredient extremely inexpensive. This ingredient has been known to cause itching and redness. Armed with this information, Sheer Naturals, has created a complete line of mineral makeup that does not contain any fillers, chemicals, dyes or preservatives – only naturally occurring minerals.
